The Real Betis Balompié football club completed the reconstruction of its stadium, the ´Benito Villamarín´ , with the help of three COMANSA 21LC290 tower cranes, currently replaced by the improved 21LC335 model. The cranes were used for building the last stands to be completed as part of the renovation work carried out between 1998 and 2000, for which three COMANSA cranes were also used.

Key aspects:

  • The work was carried out without interrupting the fixtures of Real Betis and the club was able to play all its home games at its stadium.
  • The flat-top design of the cranes allowed for a configuration that suited the needs of the project without incurring any additional structural or assembly costs, which would have been necessary if cranes which were not free-standing had been used.
  • It was necessary to cut traffic on an adjoining street to assemble the cranes. The crane assembly was planned to be carried out in just two days in order to have the minimum possible impact.
  • The cranes offered optimum performance and completed the work in just 8 months.

Project completion: 2017
Construction company: Heliopol
Key partner: Eleva Grúas Torre, a rental company based in Seville, which supplied the cranes on site and was responsible for the assembly, dismantling and maintenance work.
