COMANSA China turns 20: Twenty Years as One, Lifting Up to New Heights
On 19 October 2026, COMANSA China celebrated its 20th anniversary in Hangzhou. Government officials, Group executives, suppliers, customers and the whole team came together to look back on two decades of work and open a new chapter for the next twenty years.
A tower crane to lift twenty years
The celebration opened with a traditional lion dance and the sound of tower crane sirens. Then the 21CM1480, which will be officially launched in November, slowly lifted a giant “20”. It was our way of paying tribute to twenty years, in a way only our industry could.
Among the guests was Wang Xiaohui, Global CEO of the Savera Group, who brought COMANSA to China twenty years ago. Suppliers who have been with us from the start and customer representatives also joined us.
The right decision, twenty years on
Alberto, Chairman of the Group, spoke remotely from our headquarters in Spain. COMANSA took its first steps 64 years ago, and twenty years ago it made a key decision: to set up in China through a joint venture with Jie. Since 2015, COMANSA China has been wholly owned by the Group.
“Twenty years on, it is very clear that was the right decision. You have built far more than buildings: you have built trust, a team and a family,” he said. He closed with an order every crane operator knows: “Receive the command: UP!”
China is not an option, but a must
Dani, Global CEO of the Group, travelled from Spain for the celebration. In COMANSA’s strategy for the next twenty years, he said, China is not “an option”, but “a must”. Headquarters and COMANSA China are one team and will keep investing together to strengthen existing markets and win new ones.
Together with Zhang Weinan, General Manager of COMANSA China, and six employees with twenty years of service, he pushed the symbolic lever while the audience chanted the anniversary motto and balloons rose above the stage.
Heads down to work, heads up to look ahead
Cornell, General Manager of COMANSA China, explained what the lever carried: the trust placed in the team twenty years ago, the commitment of headquarters and the confidence the China team has earned over time. “How do we move forward over the next twenty years? The same way we have for the past twenty: heads down to work, heads up to look ahead.”
Today, COMANSA China is an important pillar of our global strategy. “Today is not the end, it is the starting point. Command received: let’s get to work!”
24 medals, 24 stories
Twenty-four employees with twenty years of service received a commemorative medal from Dani and Cornell.
Gao Wei, Chief Engineer of the Technical Department, spoke on their behalf. The first crane the team built was a 21CJ290, and almost everything had to be learned from scratch: training at headquarters, project exchanges and countless trial runs until it was right. Since then, the range has grown to four major series and thousands of configurations.
“To the colleagues who joined after us: you are stronger than we were. The next twenty years are yours to lead. And we will still be here.”
From partner to strategic supplier
Chen, Chairman of Jie, spoke as both former joint venture partner and strategic supplier. He explained that working with COMANSA has been a reference for Jie’s own international growth, and that both companies will keep working together on technology, quality and new product development.
A cake and a family photo
The day ended with the anniversary cake, a “Happy Birthday” sung by the whole audience and a family photo of the entire COMANSA China team.
